The Excella Consulting Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO) with Agile Business Analysis course covers the fundamentals of being a Product Owner while focusing on the role of the Business Analyst working in an Agile context.  This includes discovering the business need to ensuring the product or system is delivered according to business expectations. This interactive and engaging two-day session will highlight techniques used to elicit requirements and validate functionality against acceptance criteria. Common agile analysis best practices and challenges will be addressed and supplemented by group discussion with fellow analysis practitioners.

User Story Maps and Innovation Games®

This course will also cover release planning using Story maps as well as the modern product innovation method, Innovation Games. Innovation Games are a collection of qualitative research and problem solving techniques, based on the collaborative facilitation of customers, colleagues, partners and the community at large. The techniques include both open ended and more focused methods for achieving actionable insights and results.

About Your Trainer

Richard Cheng, Director of Training at Excella Consulting, provides training and consulting services to commercial and federal clients in the Washington, DC area. Richard coaches, mentors, and trains clients in understanding and implementing Agile and Scrum. He also leads Excella’s Training division.

A graduate of Virginia Tech, Richard has authored several publications on project management, presented at Agile and PMI sponsored industry events, is a member of Mensa, and holds certifications including Certified Scrum Trainer (CST), Certified ScrumMaster (CSM), Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO), Certified Scrum Professional (CSP), Certified LeSS Practitioner, Project Management Professional (PMP), PMI Agile Certified Practitioner (PMI-ACP), and SAFe Program Consultant (SPC). Richard is a founder and on the executive committee of the Agile Delivery for Agencies, Programs, and Teams (ADAPT), an Agile government task force.

Upon completion of the course, students will be credentialed as Certified Scrum Product Owners (CSPO). Additionally, this course counts towards 14 PMI Professional Development Units (PDUs)/contact hours, 16 IIBA Continuing Development Units (CDUs)/contact hours, and 14 Scrum Education Units (SEUs).

The registration fee for this two-day course is $1,300.00 (inclusive of all taxes and fees). This fee includes:

Registration is now open. Classes on both days will take place from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Arlington Tech eXchange (ATX) at 2300 Wilson Boulevard, Suite 610, Arlington, Virginia (located two blocks from the Court House metro station on the Orange and Silver lines). Validated parking is available in three nearby garages. Hot breakfast, lunch, and afternoon snacks will be provided each day.

Cancellation Policy

Students submitting cancellation requests 10 business days or more prior to the start of the course are entitled to a full refund. Students submitting cancellation requests less than 10 business days prior to the start of the course will be issued credit toward a future Excella training course. The credit will be equal to the amount paid for the initial course less any applicable fees. Should the organizer cancel the course for any reason, each registered students will be refunded 100% of the registration cost they paid.

This course starts with a brief overview of the Agile and Scrum frameworks, along with the Product Owner Role. From there, the curriculum includes:

Note: The CSPO course assumes that attendees already have a basic understanding of Scrum via our Agile and Scrum in a Day course, a Certified ScrumMaster course, or equivalent Scrum experience.
