Topic:    Introduction to Behavior Driven Development

Behavior Driven Development is a pull-based approach to delivering software that matters through the whole software lifecycle, from vision to code. It minimizes rework and over-delivery, bakes quality in, and is founded on respect for people in their various roles and the language that we use to collaborate and communicate. BDD decouples the learning associated with Test Driven Development and Acceptance Testing from the word “test”, using the more natural vocabulary of examples and behavior to elicit requirements and create a shared understanding of the domain.

In this talk Liz introduces the principles of BDD, some patterns of conversation, and explains why learning and discovery – not testing - is the true focus of test-first practices.

Speaker Bio:  About Liz

Liz Keogh is an independent Lean and Agile Coach based in London. She is a well-known blogger and international speaker, a core member of the BDD community, and a contributor to a number of open-source projects including JBehave. She was also one of the two Gordon Pask award winners at Agile 2010 alongside Elisabeth Hendrickson, for ”spreading other people’s ideas and coming up with some pretty crazy ones of my own.”

Her crazy ideas include Pixie Driven development (in which she uses fairies to drive out good design), the Haiku workshop (teaching haiku and intuition), and BDD for Life (in which she applies software testing patterns to people).

This looks like a great start for the first meeting next year.
