Scrum adoption should be promoted throughout the organization, not just on development teams. Using Scrum, an operations team can become adept at estimating their capacity to field requests, committing to those estimates, and communicating them to the rest of the organization. This fosters certainty and confidence in the departments that depend on operations, including development and management, and increases their productivity. In such a way, organization-wide Scrum implementation can form a continuous feedback loop that will ultimately aid in meeting business objectives.
We will discuss the ways in which Scrum is an ideal tool for non-development teams (HR, Operations, Office Management), and how using Scrum throughout an organization can foster greater collaboration between core and support staff, resulting in higher efficiency and productivity for the organization. By exploring the similarities between the impediments faced by operations teams with those faced by development teams, attendees will learn how Scrum can be effectively tailored to manage the request-based workloads typical of operations and support staff. The goal of the presentation is to spread the concept that Scrum is not just for development teams.
